	Single-Hung Windows	Double-Hung Windows
Initial Outlay	10-20% cheaper than double-hung windows.	Slightly smaller initial outlay. Only about 10-20% more initial outlay than single-hung windows, but the savings in energy costs can make up the difference quickly.
Sashes	The top sash is stationary and does not move or open, making it difficult to clean.	Both sashes tilt in and lock in place so they can be easily cleaned from the inside of your home.
Ease of Cleaning	Since the top sash does not open, it is more difficult to clean and can only be cleaned from outside, which can be a huge problem for 2nd (or higher) floor windows.	Since both the upper and lower windows tilt inwards, they can both be cleaned from the INSIDE of your home.
Sashes	The top sash is stationary and does not move or open, making it difficult to clean.	Sashes tilt in and lock in place so they can be easily cleaned from the inside of your home.
Ventilation	Only one sash opens, meaning that the ventilation will be less.	Both the top and bottom sash open, giving you more ventilation.

Noel McDonald with a fantastic presentation as we are going through our shopping process for a medium sized window job, one of the most professional experiences we’ve had in the process of multiple remodeling projects regarding our house (including countertops, doors, a backsplash, a deck - to name a few).
