Alright, now back to the bread recipes...

Quinoa Bread Recipes: Easy Pizza Crust

I know we're talking about quinoa bread recipes here. But I just can't help introducing you to this easy gluten-free quinoa pizza recipe. After all, most pizza crusts are doughy and bread-like, right? So it makes sense to have this recipe here.

We put together a video to show you how to make this recipe. It's our first try, so be merciful!

We've eaten this quinoa pizza on our "date nights." We just put the kids to bed and bring out the pizza!

And we can eat almost the whole thing! It's that good.

The crust is baked. The rest of our ingredients are raw! And we're not talking yucky raw here. It's really quite tasty.

So, we'll break-down the recipe into three sections: the quinoa pizza crust, the almond cheese to put on top of the crust, and the pizza sauce...

Quinoa Pizza Crust Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Quinoa flour (Follow the link to find out how to make your own flour.)
  • 2 Tbs Chia seed, ground (Ground flax seed also works.)
  • tsp Salt
  • tsp Garlic powder
  • tsp Italian herb blend (combine Basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, sage, etc.)
  • 2 Tbs Oil (We recommend Grapeseed oil because it resists burning better than other oils.)
  • Cup Warm water

Quinoa Pizza Crust Process

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Add oil and warm water.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Turn out onto floured cookie sheet or pizza stone.
  5. Using a rolling pin, roll out to about inch thick or 12 inches in diameter.
  6. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 minutes.

With the crust taken care of -- we'll make the Almond cheese. Put it on the quinoa crust after the crust is baked.

That's right -- with this pizza recipe the sauce actually goes on top of the cheese!

Almond Cheese Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Soaked almonds (Soak for at least 8 hours.)
  • Cup Water
  • Lemon, juiced (usually yields Cup juice)
  • Cup Oil (Again, we like Grapeseed oil.)
  • tsp Salt, or to taste
  • tsp Ground mustard (optional, but adds good flavor)
  • tsp Onion powder

Almond Cheese Process

  1. In food processor, process almonds until fairly smooth, scraping down the sides.
  2. Add water and process until smoother, scraping down the sides.
  3. Add remaining ingredients until very smooth, scraping down the sides.

And last -- the tomato sauce!

Pizza Sauce Ingredients

  • pint Cherry tomatoes, or about 1 Cup
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Basil
  • tsp Salt
  • 1 Garlic clove, minced (Or tsp garlic powder)
  • tsp Ground chia seed (Or ground flax seed)
  • Cup Sun-dried tomatoes (Soaked in hot water for 10 minutes.) (Or try Tbs of tomato paste.)

Pizza Sauce Process

Process all in a food processor until smooth or to desired consistency.

Quinoa Bread Recipes: Gluten-Free / Wheat-Free Tortillas

What it is...

I really like this recipe. It's made by Charles from FiveEuroFood.

He describes himself as a British guy living in France with his Swedish wife. Quite the internationalist, I'd say!

Why I like it...

At any rate, I love his recipe for a few reasons.

First, it's really easy. The ingredients are quinoa flour, water, oil, and salt. It's beautifully simple.

Second, the video itself is just put together really well. The instructions are really easy to follow. And I could go on. But I won't.

Metric conversions...

Now, because Charles is from Europe some of his measurements are different than what Americans are used to.

So -- for example -- he says to use 250 grams of quinoa flour. This would translate into 8.8 ounces for a Yankee like myself.

The recipe also calls for 150 milliliters of hot water. That's the equivalent of 5 ounces.

Pronouncing quinoa...

Now, some people in the comments section give Charles a hard time about how he pronounces quinoa. We've discussed how to pronounce quinoa and some crazy ways that people say quinoa already, so I won't go into it here.

Suffice it to say -- I like his recipe so much that I don't really care how he says quinoa.

What kind of oil?

Here's one other thing that you might miss if you don't read the comments section of his video. Charles recommends olive oil in his recipe. But then he says in the comments that any oil will do. He mentions Canola in particular.
